“A man’s heart is right when he wills what God wills.” — Thomas Aquinas
Aquinas’s words point to the heart of Christian maturity: aligning your will with God’s. As a young adult, brokenness—failed plans, shattered relationships, or personal flaws—can feel like the opposite of a “right” heart. Yet, these moments of fracture are where God often works most powerfully, teaching you to desire His will above your own.
Brokenness exposes the idols you’ve clung to—success, approval, or control—and invites you to release them. It’s painful to see your plans crumble, but this is where faith deepens. Like Peter after his denial of Christ, you learn that God’s grace meets you in failure, redirecting your heart toward His purposes. Brokenness isn’t the end but a beginning, a chance to will what God wills.
When you face setbacks, don’t despair. Bring your broken pieces to God, trusting that He is a master at restoration. Each surrender shapes your heart to mirror His, preparing you for a life of purpose. Never forget—you are loved and you are not alone.
