His Way

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."  - Proverbs 3:5-6

“All the natural movements of the soul are controlled by laws analogous to those of physical gravity. The only exception is the movement of surrender to God.” — George MacDonald

MacDonald’s metaphor reveals the countercultural nature of surrender. As a young adult, you’re taught to climb—higher grades, better jobs, stronger networks. Yet, this relentless pull to prove yourself can feel like gravity, dragging you toward exhaustion. Surrendering to God defies this force, lifting you into a life of trust and purpose that the world cannot offer.

This doesn’t mean abandoning ambition or responsibility. Instead, it’s about reorienting your goals to align with God’s will. Surrender asks you to trust that God’s plan for your career, relationships, or calling is better than your own, even when it leads through uncertainty or sacrifice. It’s a daily choice to say, “Not my will, but Yours,” trusting that God’s love is the foundation of every step you take.

Think of the moments when clinging to control left you anxious or empty. Now imagine the freedom of releasing those burdens to a God who sees the bigger picture. Surrender is not weakness but strength, a bold act of faith that God’s purposes will prevail. As you face the unknowns of young adulthood, let surrender be your guide. Never forget—you are loved and you are not alone.
